Muscle relaxant injections for wrinkles (BOTOX)
By using facial muscles repeatedly throughout our lifetime, the skin is creased in areas of greatest use. The aging process causes the slowdown of collagen and elastin production in the skin so that as we get older these areas of overuse become damaged and the lines become permanent. BOTOX is used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and 'crows feet' around the eyes.
The muscle relaxant is injected with a very fine needle. After the injection, the muscles will relax and the skin will smooth itself out over a period of 5-14 days.
The result is a softer, more relaxed and pleasant appearance. The effect usually lasts about six months and can be repeated when needed.
